Fishing for variants in the deep end of the gene pool: OGT's custom bait designs
Monday 21 May 2012
Targeted custom next generation sequencing offers significant benefits over whole genome or exome sequencing, including greater depth of coverage, reduced cost, simpler data analysis and shorter time to results; however, the design of custom baits is not straightforward and poor design strategies can render the results unusable. This Application Note examines how Oxford Gene Technology’s (OGT) custom bait design can facilitate sequencing projects by:
- Increasing depth of coverage
- Decreasing off-target noise
- Increasing sensitivity for variant detection
- Improving capture of GC rich targets and coverage across the entire region of interest
